Texas AG Seeks to Take a Byte Out of Spamm.

spam, Skewered

According to this article in the Houston Chronicle, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed a lawsuit under the (YOU) CAN-SPAM(M) Act against two people for sending out lots of UCE shilling financial services. In addition, the suit also claims the pair violated both the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Texas Electronic Mail Solicitation Act, and seeks penalties in the $$$$$MILLIONS$$$$$.

The collection of interest on card issued by a bank is a violation of laws!

spam, Skewered

Today, I present for your amusement a small piece of spam. What intrigued me about it (thereby bypassing my natural tendency to LART the spammer into oblivion, and move on) was the title. Political kookiness, or simply another piece of spam. Let's find out...

spam, Skewered

Hello again, gentle readers. It has been awhile since I last prepared a tasty portion of email spam for your reading amusement. Today, I have chosen from my spam-cellar a fine portion of "Let me submit your website to search engines" UCE.

 Another 419 Variant - 'cbn'

spam, Skewered

It appears that, since they began appearing uninvited in our email inboxen, the 'Nigeria 419' scam has become so common a thing that many people have been doing what spammers recommend we do to their eTurds if we don't like them -- 'just hit the "delete" key'.

And, apparently, that doesn't sit too well with some of the Lads from Lagos -- as we can tell from this variant that I recently received.

This sounds like a scam to me. Received it in today's email along with 3 other similar notices for being a "Second Tier" winner.

"

Note:

Ahhh, yes... The author is correct -- this is a scam! The early versions got the nickname "Spanish Bull", as they referred to a lottery known as the "Toro". Apparently, this scam has cross international borders just like the "Nigeria 419" has.

I wrote up one of these in an earlier article, It's a "Lotto" Bull!, so you can read the various warnings & stuff I received there.
