 It's Patching Time!

Info Sec

The Second Tuesday of the month has come and gone, and with it arrived the announcement of the latest batch of Microsoft security fixes. The details can be found by going to the following web page:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms05-apr.mspx.

 Next Tuesday is ''Microsoft Tuesday''

Info Sec

And, it appears the breather we got last month is over. Microsoft put out their "advance notification" of what security patches they plan on releasing this month -- you can read all about it at the following URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/advance.mspx

Reading this, it appears they are scheduled to release eight (8) Security Bulletins, at least five (5) of which will be "Critical". For home users, the one bulletin on Exchange is probably not to much to worry about. However, keep an eye on the bulletin concerning MSN Messenger -- last month showed that the product is becoming the latest target of the worm-writers and their skiddie minions.

 More On P0rn Spamm

Info Sec

Recently, I have been getting calls from associates, complaining about an increase in "inappropriate emails" showing up in their inboxes. We are talking about p0rn here, folks. And not the softcore type, either. Some of these pictures go beyond raunchy. And the callers always want to know one thing: what can they do to keep this crap off of their computer?
