Letter to Richard Truitt from George Lass dated 8 March 1943

Dear Richard,
I have wanted to write to you again but was waiting to hear from you acknowledging the little birthday gift and card I sent you. Aunt Dorothy tells me you have a pretty good job now- glad to hear it but feel rather badly about quitting school so early- what schooling I have has always been such a help especially when you are away from home among strangers.
Well Richard I have a farm now. Not very big but 42 acres. Hope to spend some time each week there.Only 4 miles from town. A nice creek with fish, lots of squirrels and rabbits on nice hard road. House not so very big 4 room, a garage and chicken house and a barn. It will take lots of fixing up, eventually I intend to have my shop out there. Then I would like to have you visit me and may be stay out there with me for a long time and help me. Glad you are making some money. I know you will help your mother care for the other children. We are very busy at the studio and it has been so cold this last week. Soon it will bew much warmer and we will have still more to do. Wish you could see the dogs. They are so large and active, playful, and lovable. We think of calling the new farm "chow haven"I am sending pictures of house and barn and garage and chicken house.
